Freshwater and Sustainability
What is the world Doing? What is the United Nations Doing- specifically UNESCO -About OUR Water
UNESCO: United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation
The issue of a family not having safe and accessible water in 2015 anywhere on this planet is a disgrace!
The Rio+20 conference discussed safe drinking water as a guarantee for all of us, that water is a resource that must be wisely managed for sustainable development.
It has a ripple effect actually: it improves education- kids get to go to school instead of fetching water, family members can work and earn money instead of fetching water, seriously, if you had to spend half your day walking and getting water just to live, this would totally effect every aspect of your life!
For “lasting peace”.
Peace must be established on the basis of humanity’s moral and intellectual solidarity. UNESCO strives to build networks among nations that enable this kind of solidarity, by: Mobilizing for education: so that every child, boy or girl, has access to quality education as a fundamental human right and as a prerequisite for human development.”
